As the Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, preparing complex financial statements, performing in-depth financial analysis, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing guidance to junior staff, while reporting directly to the CFO and actively participating in month-end and year-end close processes; requiring a strong understanding of accounting principles and proven experience in financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, adhering to GAAP guidelines.

Account Reconciliation: Perform detailed account reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and inventory.

Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential risks, providing insightful reports to management.

Internal Controls: Maintain and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Audit Support: Actively assist external auditors with audit requests, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Month-End/Year-End Close: Lead the month-end and year-end closing process, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliation of accounts.

Team Leadership: Mentor and train junior accounting staff, delegating tasks and providing guidance on accounting procedures.

Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets and financial forecasts.

Tax Compliance: Prepare and review tax filings, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations.

Collections: Review accounts daily to identify outstanding debts. Contact customers by phone or email to discuss overdue payments. Take action to encourage timely payments.

 

Qualifications

·       Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

·       Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate environment

·       Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, Net Suite is a PLUS.

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams

·       Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy

·       Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure

 Job Location 

In-office, Midtown East, NYC

Work hours: typically 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday

Salary Range: $70,000- to $80K annually depending on experience and qualifications
