Atelier 4 Inc, known as the leaders in fine art logistics for 35 years in New York, Miami, Los Angeles and Charlotte seeks an energetic person to fill the role of Experienced Crate Shop Packer in our New York office. Atelier 4 Inc has always set itself apart from other logistic carriers with their innovative & highest quality of service.  We are seeking a safety-minded Crate Shop Packer for full-time employment in our New York office to be a key contributor in assuring our services meets or exceeds our customers’ expectations.

Job duties 

·       Soft packing, building trays & customs boxes for various types of artworks; paintings, framed editions, sculptures, 3-D items, etc.

·       Use of saws, hand tools, glue gun, matte knives, etc.

·       Cavity packing, bracing & final crate fitting of various types of artworks

·       Maintaining clean and accurate paperwork; time sheets, inspection reports, build plans

·       Clean equipment, tools, and shop areas to maintain orderly & safe operation

Qualifications 

·       Minimum 2 years experience in fine arts packing or handling environment

·       Basic experience with power tools (panel saw, band saw & material cutter)

·       Knowledge of various soft packing materials and art-handling best practices

·       Ability to read and understand packing instructions, packing diagrams, packing lists, etc

·       Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

·       Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements/Work Environment 

• Regular and predictable attendance

• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds as part of the daily activity

• Ability to work extended periods of standing, bending, lifting and/or driving

• Ability to effectively communicate with others (verbally and in writing)

• Drug Free environment / safe work environment

• Full–time Position

Job Location 

Long Island City, NY

Work hours: generally 9:00am to 5:00pm

Pay Range: $22 to $26 per hour DOE
