We are seeking an experienced and professional Crate Shop Packer at our New York (Long Island City) branch location.
Position Summary
This position reports to the New York City Branch Manager and is responsible for executing safe and effective packing of all manner of artwork & fragile goods. The ideal candidate will have experience with fine-arts and/or specialized products. The Details
Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Soft packing, building trays & customs boxes for various types of artworks; paintings, framed editions, sculptures, 3-D items, etc.
· Use of saws, hand tools, glue gun, matte knives, etc.
· Cavity packing, bracing & final crate fitting of various types of artworks
· Maintaining clean and accurate paperwork; time sheets, inspection reports, build plans
· Clean equipment, tools, and shop areas to maintain orderly & safe operation
What You Need to Possess:
· Minimum two years’ experience in fine arts packing or handling environment
· Basic experience with power tools (panel saw, band saw & material cutter)
· Knowledge of various soft packing materials and art-handling best practices
· Ability to read and understand packing instructions, packing diagrams, packing lists, etc
· Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
· Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
· Regular and predictable attendance
· Ability to lift at least 50 pounds as part of the daily activity
· Ability to work extended periods of standing, bending, lifting and/or driving
· Ability to effectively communicate with others (verbally and in writing)
· Drug Free environment / safe work environment
· Full-time work; this is NOT gig work

Job Location

Work hours: generally 8:30am to 5:00pm
Pay Range: $23.00 to $28.00 per hour DOE
